VISA cards are not accepted when paying in supermarkets. Visa is fine in most restaurants but it is worth checking before you eat your meal. The best option is to pay with cash. There are plenty of banks in Kaprun with ATMs where you can get cash. We suggest you use a debit card to get Euros directly from your home country account. It is generally the cheapest way to convert your currency.
There is a Tourist Information Office in Kaprun and we suggest you visit there early in your holiday to plan your days out.
The Salzburger Area Ski-Pass is only a few Euros more
than the Europa Sportregion (for Kaprun/Zell am See) and
covers all of the ski resorts in the Salzburg area . For
good-expert skiers it is recommended that you purchase a
Salzburger Area Ski-Pass. If you do not have your own transport,
we recommend you use a taxi to get around. If you have your
own skis, tell the taxi company, and they should be able
to provide the appropriate size transport.
For purchase of equipment and clothes plus bicycle hire, ski,
board and boot hire we recommend EUROPSPORT, you will get
the best service here. It is located on Nikolas-Gassner-Strasse
– on the same side as the apartment, walking towards Kaprun
Centre. It is just after the large InterSport shop. Ask
for Mike (good English) and tell him that you are staying
at Pam & Geoff’s apartment.
English is widely spoken in Austria. However we have left some phrase books at the apartment to help you.
