Kaprun is a small, friendly, scenically very attractive, typical Austrian village. It is situated at the entrance to the Hohe Tauern National Park, at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. Kaprun offers all of the amenities for an enjoyable and interesting holiday whether in winter or summer. Kaprun boasts plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants, all within easy walking distance of our centrally located apartment. There are shops, supermarkets, a tourist information centre and banks providing all of the amenities required for a no-stress vacation.
For skiers the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier offers year round skiing with beautiful views. Whether you are experienced or a novice, there are plenty of runs for all to enjoy. In winter, there are local slopes accessed by the Maiskögel lift plus learner/practice slopes within walking distance of our apartment. More advanced skiing can be found at nearby Zell am See on the Schmittenhöhe mountain. Skibus stops are close to our apartment. All of the above ski slopes are available under a single local area ski-pass for the “Europa Sportregion”. The more adventurous can purchase a Salzburger Area ski pass for a few Euros more and ski in the nearby resorts of Saalbach/Hinterglemm/Leogang, Kitzbühel, Bad Gastein, Hoch König (Maria Alm) and others. Kaprun is centrally located to take good advantage of the Salzburger Area ski pass.
In Summer, there are plenty of activities local to Kaprun to keep you amused, including horse riding, cycling, walking (way-marked), paragliding, sight seeing flights, rafting, canoeing, golf and much more. You may think that cycling is difficult in such a mountainous country; however you will be surprised at how easy it is to cycle along the traffic free and relatively flat valley floors while enjoying some spectacular views. Take it nice and easy and stop at the many cafes and bars along the route. Take the family to the nearby water activity centres (Lidos) at Uttendorf, Zell am See and Brück, where the children can play on the water slides while you relax soaking up the summer sun. Visit OPTIMUM in Kaprun for swimming/sauna/massage relaxation. Take a stroll up to the lake and waterfall at the Sigmund-Thun-Klamm Gorge just outside Kaprun and only a few minutes walk from our apartment. There are village activities in Kaprun centre most weekends during the summer for your entertainment. Check the localwebsites.
Kaprun is a few minutes drive from the popular Zell am See with its spectacular views and beautiful lake. Here you can find more bars, cafes, restaurants, shops and other amenities and you can enjoy the activities available on the Zeller See to enable you to relax on your holiday.
